The 4-star hotel Van der Valk Hotel Volendam is just outside of the picturesque village of Volendam, less than 30 minutes north of downtown Amsterdam with train or car. Volendam’s Harbour and Cheese Factory, the Rederij Volendam Marken Express and Volendam Museum are located within a ten-minute drive, and seven meeting rooms are offered on site. All rooms have satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, radio, en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe and a desk. This hotel offers guests free parking, access to Health Club Vitaalsport, which includes a swimming pool, fitness centre and a sauna. Bike and scooter rentals are also available, in addition to a kids corner and playground. Buffet breakfasts are served daily in Restaurant Martinus, live cooking happens in the weekends and there is a hotel bar. Van der Valk Hotel Volendam is half an hour’s drive from Schiphol Airport.
The buffet breakfasts here were found to have an excellent range of cooked and continental fare on offer, while the other restaurant food was thought to be similarly delicious.Those who stayed reported top-notch service from professional staff members, who were said to be friendly, efficient and spoke a fantastic level of English.
Van der Valk Volendam guests reported comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and spacious rooms with modern amenities. On top of this, those who opted to stay considered the hotel’s perfectly warmed pool a pleasure to use, and the free, on-site parking was also appreciated.
This hotel is said to be located just off the motorway in a peaceful rural area north of Amsterdam and people said they could quite easily catch a bus to Amsterdam Centraal Station. Those not wanting to head downtown reported being able to explore the nearby attractions of Edam and Volendam at their leisure — and could can even do this by renting a bike from the hotel.
A small number of those who stayed at Van der Valk Volendam opined that the decor was little bit dated, but said that the rooms were nevertheless comfortable with everything they needed found on site.
