Tidelands Caribbean is close to the beach and boardwalk, within walking distance. Guests have enjoyed taking advantage of all the activities the area has to offer and this has proven to be a big positive draw for people with children. Shops, bike rentals, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.

There have been a high number of complaints about cleanliness and upkeep at this hotel. Guests have mentioned that rooms can be dirty, furniture has been stained and the ceramic tile floors have left much to be desired. There have been reports of broken bathroom furnishings, particularly issues with toilets. The hotel could use a lot of updating and one guest said that when a fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning because the system was not updated, none of the staff members were even inside the hotel at the time. Several customers said they used to love this hotel, but it has gone downhill and has poor management.

Some guests complained that though they were informed all rooms were guaranteed one parking spot, they were unable to find parking and sometimes had to park elsewhere, blocks away from the hotel.

There have been reports that this hotel charges guests a fee for cancelation even as much as one week in advance, one guest mentioned a few within hours of booking and canceling. A few guests have complained about poor customer service, including with upkeep in rooms and room items such as towels, coffee and bedding changes.
