About Milky Bay Resort
Set in an idyllic location, spilling out onto tropical Phangan Beach, Milky Bay Resort offers rustic bungalow style accommodation and a very laid back atmosphere.
An eclectic variety of bungalow-style accommodation, ranging in size from studios to family villas, is available. The standard bungalows are a little basic, and feature air conditioning, TV, in-room safe and en-suite bathrooms. The superior accommodation is more spacious and better equipped.
There are multiple lounging areas scattered around the resort, which are a terrific place to meet other travellers and simply enjoy the sea breeze and tranquillity. There is also a lovely pool with beach views and a spa area with sauna and treatments available.
The on-site restaurant specialises in both Italian and Thai food, while the bar is a popular meeting spot, with pool tables available.
Haad Rin Beach, site of the Full Moon Party, is 4.8 miles from Milky Bay.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Terrific location right on the beach
Of course it had to be Milky Bay's location right on the beach that guests most appreciated. Most were on the island to laze on the beach and attend the Full Moon Party, so they were certainly very happy that at least one of their targets was right out front.
positive:
Amazing food from the restaurant
Guests simply couldn't stop raving about the food served at the restaurant. The resort describes it as Thai-Italian fusion cuisine, and if guest comments are anything to go on, the foodie world should take note. A new star fusion cuisine may have been born.
positive:
Excellent staff
The staff at Milky Way were said to live and breathe the national motto of “a land with a thousand smiles”. Guests found the staff incredibly friendly, and more than willing to assist them in any reasonable way.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No Wi-Fi in the rooms
While guests were grateful for the free Wi-Fi around the reception area, they maintained that there was no access at all in the bungalows. This had the benefit of getting them out and about, but they would nevertheless have liked the convenience of in-room Wi-Fi.
negative:
Beds were a bit uncomfortable
While mattress hardness preferences are notoriously a matter of personal taste, and there are always at least a couple of guests who find any given hotel's mattresses uncomfortable, there were more than one or two complaints for Milky Bay. Guests couldn't perhaps put in words what it was about them, but many considered the beds to be quite uncomfortable.
negative:
Broken sun loungers
While guests loved the pool itself, saying it was clean and well maintained, quite a few reported that many of the sun loungers were broken, and most uncomfortable to use.
