Positive Reviews
positive:
In the station, springboard for central Oslo.
Guests considered Scandic Byporten to have a perfect location for getting amongst all Oslo has to offer, since it is part of the train station complex itself and therefore handy for express trains to the airport, the shopping mall and other transport connections. People were also happy to find it to be central for Oslo exploring, with the Opera House, Karl Johan shopping street and many other attractions within walking distance.
positive:
Delicious breakfast in nice restaurant.
The buffet breakfast appears to have plenty of delicious fare on offer, and in addition to the wide selection, is apparently served in a nice restaurant.
positive:
Comfortable quarters, nice service.
Despite the location next to the train station, the rooms proved to be quiet, as well as clean and comfortable, and guests also enjoyed the staff service, comfy lobby to relax in, and being able to borrow bikes for free.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A few thought small.
Although it seems most guests had no problem with the room sizes, and some thought them rather spacious, others found them on the small size, so this may vary a lot between room types.
negative:
Breakfast crowded at times.
The downside of the popular breakfasts at Scandic Byporten seems to be that they can be very busy at times, with some guests finding it crowded and therefore occasionally hard to find a table.
negative:
No air conditioning, or kettle.
A few guests mentioned that the rooms can get hot at times due to a lack of air conditioning and the difficulty in opening the windows, while others would have liked the opportunity to make a cup of tea in their room.
