Positive Reviews
positive:
Beautiful views overlooking the bay
The Picclolo is in a very prominent position near the water, and has lovely views from most of the rooms. These were most certainly not wasted on the guests, who said they could happily sit and stare out to sea for quite some time, since it was so mesmerising.
positive:
Kind and friendly staff
Again and again guests commented on how wonderful the staff at Piccolo were. There were no real complaints to speak of, which is quite extraordinary. On the contrary they were often praised for being friendly, and showing great kindness when dealing with their guests.
positive:
Very decent breakfast
While they didn't exactly say it was the best breakfast they ever had, guests did say that it was very good, with more variety than is perhaps typical in Italy, so all but the most picky eaters could find something they really liked.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Very limited Wi-Fi range
While guests did appreciate that there was Wi-Fi, and said it worked reasonably well, they were nevertheless very disappointed that it was only accessible around reception. This meant they had to venture forth from their rooms when they wished to connect to the world beyond.
negative:
Only one English TV station
Although not often mentioned, as one doesn't typically go to Portofino to watch TV, it was said that the cable package the hotel subscribes to seems to have only one English language station.
negative:
Some rooms face the back
While it seems most rooms do face the front, and have stupendous views over the Med, this fact only caused more heartache for guests assigned rooms facing the back, were the views were said to be a good deal less spectacular.
