Fantastic views of Criccieth Castle
This was perhaps guest's favourite feature of Min-Y-Gaer. The castle is of course a spectacular site, and guests were happy to have a great view of it right from the dining room when enjoying their eggs and bacon.
Situated in a commanding position overlooking the sea and Criccieth Castle, Min-Y-Gaer offers comfortable country style accommodation in a lovely renovated Victorian property. The rooms have a country-cottage feel to them, and feature flat screen TV’s, tea/coffee stations and en-suite bathrooms. The residents lounge is a great spot to relax with a good book, a drink, or quite possibly both. It features wonderful views over the bay. There is ample parking on-site, and animal lovers will be happy to know that pets are allowed on application. The dining room is the elegant setting for the daily breakfast, which consists of the full cooked options and much more besides. Min-Y-Gaer is licensed, and there is a bar on-site. The incredibly photogenic Criccieth Castle is only 600 yards from the guest house. Snowdonia National Park is nearby, with Mount Snowdon itself about 23 miles drive away.

Several guests remarked how easy the guest house was to find. They barely even needed SatNav, since it was on a main road and had decent signage. They also reported that there was ample parking, and were happy they didn't need to struggle to find a spot after a long day touring.
Again and again guests mentioned what a terrific welcome they received from the hosts. They were also described as friendly and very helpful when it came to offering advice about the local area.
As with almost any older, and perhaps quirky, property, rooms sold in the same class are not all the same sizes. Min-Y-Gaer does seem to have one or two rooms much smaller than the rest. While it didn't come up often, sometime guests allocated these rooms complain about getting the short end of the stick.
The guest house is a three story Victorian building, which of course means that guests with rooms on the top floor will have two flights of stairs to climb. While not a problem for most, some did get a bit weary of climbing them multiple times a day.
Guests mentioning the Wi-Fi were typically complaining. It seems it can be a bit temperamental, so guests may need to rely on their cell network's data service.
