About Hotel Metropole Taormina
With breathtaking views both across the water and towards Mount Etna, Hotel Metropole Taormina offers exquisitely luxurious accommodation to those who demand nothing less than the best.
The 28 rooms and suites are furnished and decorated to a high standard and have a distinct minimalist and Zen-like feel to them. Each features en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, minibar and telephone. Many have exquisite views out over the Med.
There is a simply gorgeous infinity pool, which seemly blends with the sea beyond, and a tranquil spa area with hammam, sauna and treatments available. Metropole Taormina is very well known for attracting great jazz performers, and there are regular performances in the lounge.
A buffet breakfast is available at the hotel, while later on the lounge-bar and terrace serves drinks and light meals.
There are some wonderfully sheltered and private beaches nearby, and the hotel provides a free shuttle to these.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Simply outstanding views
Of course it had to be the views that guests most enjoyed about their stay at the Metropole. Like most other hotels in the town, the very design is based on making the most of the exquisite views, which guests said ran all the way to Mount Etna.
positive:
Good central location
While Taormina is of course exceptionally hilly, guests still said that a great deal of the town centre, with its churches, cafes, bars and other amenities was well within walking distance. They never felt like they had far to go. The beach is quite a way down the hill, but there is a nearby cable car servicing this route.
positive:
Some every good jazz
The hotel is well known for hosting jazz performances, and several guests mentioned that the acts they got to play were very good, with the classy atmosphere of the hotel only adding to their experience.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms a bit too small
While they had few issues with the rooms otherwise, some guests felt that they were a bit too small for the class of luxury hotel that the Metropole was clearly in. Specifically mentioned was a total lack of closet space.
negative:
Food and drink a bit overpriced
While guests accepted that they were in a luxury hotel, and could hardly expect things to be cheap, they were a bit disappointed with the prices of food and drink at the hotel. They felt they were much too high and that the hotel was taking advantage of its position.
negative:
Balconies not private
Guests explain that the balconies are sheltered from their neighbours by a very flimsy slatted fence that was easy to see through, making them not at all private.
