Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly and cheerful staff
It was near impossible to find a bad word written about the staff. On the contrary, guests after guest said how wonderful they were. What seemed to impress most was that the staff usually seemed to be quite cheerful, signaling to guests that they hotel had a good staff morale.
positive:
Close to the Long Island Expressway
Guests really liked the location for a number of reasons, but first among these was that it was very close to the Long Island Expressway. This highway is of course the very backbone of the island, and guests were happy to be able to quickly access it.
positive:
Nice pool area
Guests thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the whole inner courtyard surrounding it, saying that the pool was kept very clean and was ideal for a quick refreshing dip.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Paid Wi-Fi
Guests almost couldn’t believe it when, on arrival, they discovered that in-room Wi-Fi would cost them extra. They felt that, due both to the central role connectivity plays in people’s lives nowadays, as well as the fact that the Marriot is a somewhat luxury chain, it should definitely have been included in the room rate.
negative:
In desperate need of an update
This was by far the most common, and most serious, complaint. On surveying both the public areas of the hotel, and their own rooms, guests felt strongly that they were in desperate need of a makeover.
negative:
Some rooms very exposed
A large number of guests in certain rooms mentioned that they felt “exposed” in various ways. One problem was that some rooms faced the indoor pool area but had large glass sliding doors, pretty much putting guests in their room on display. Guests in other rooms said the position of the rooms exposed them to noise from the bar.
