    About Fitzroy Inn Historic Retreat Mittagong

    Set on the edge of a rural town, this charming Victorian colonial building with its wrap-around verandah opened as the Fitzroy Inn in 1836, and was the first lodge or guest house in the State to provide rooms as well as liquor. Today, the Fitzroy Inn continues that hospitable tradition and recently reopened as a country inn with a fine restaurant, set amidst five acres of tranquil, terraced gardens with a stream flowing through it. The estate is situated amongst the rolling hills of the Southern Highlands on an acreage dotted with century-old oaks overlooking Alexandra Mountain.
