About Ca Santa Sofia
Ca Santa Sofia is a small guesthouse on the second floor of an ancient Venetian palace in San Polo, just 50 metres from the Rialto Bridge. Although a simple and economical option, this accommodation is still very centrally located and ideal for getting around Venice.
The three guest-rooms are simply decorated with one shared bathroom. Each is bright with tiled floors and equipped with TV, desk and hairdryer.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is accessible throughout and check-in is available until 10pm without a surcharge.
Ca Santa Sofia serves continental breakfasts in the bedrooms each morning and is surrounded by traditional restaurants and bars.
St Mark's Square can be reached in ten minutes by foot, whilst the Doje's Palace is a 17-minute walk. There is a Vaporetto (waterbus) stop just metres away which can take guests to the other Venetian islands such as Murano and Burano, as well as Marco Polo airport - around 50-60 minutes away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Perfect central location
Guests are pleased to be so centrally located, with all Venice's attractions so close by. You are minutes from the Grand Canal and a short walk to St Mark's Square with Vaporetto stops close by. Guests also appreciate that despite being so well placed, the San Polo area, in which the accommodation is located, is relatively calm.
positive:
Excellent value for money
OK you're not getting three or four star hotel accommodation, but what you are getting is an excellent location for a very reasonable price. Guests are happy that the accommodation is clean and comfortable enough for their needs and they can explore Venice without paying a fortune.
positive:
Lovely staff
The hosts of the establishment are generally considered to be very kind and attentive by their guests. They contact you in advance of your visit to make sure that you can find the place - sending detailed instructions. They are very friendly and welcoming too during your visit.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Breakfast is a bit poor
Although many hate to complain with the great rates they are paying, guests do find the breakfasts to be pretty poor. They are very simple, light and of an industrial nature.
negative:
Shared bathrooms
Even though you know in advance what to expect, and the price you pay takes it into account, guests still find the shared bathroom a bit of a burden. Guests staying in all three bedrooms make use of it, meaning that you may have a long wait to get ready in the morning.
negative:
A bit difficult to find
Despite the best efforts of the owners, guests armed with the latest technology still find the accommodation a struggle to locate.
