Hotel Bayview On the Park (Melbourne, Australia)

Guests reported that this hotel is located halfway between Melbourne's central business district and St. Kilda. This gives easy access to both the inner city beach and popular landmarks such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Arts Centre Melbourne and the  National Gallery of Victoria. A choice of cafes, restaurants and shops are also within walking distance.

The rooms have been described as spacious and well presented with simply furnishings and comfortable beds. The rooms are also quiet and housekeeping services the rooms daily.

Guests reported that both the front desk and concierge staff were friendly and helpful with answering questions, providing information and making recommendations for restaurants. The restaurant staff were also reported to be courteous and attentive.

A number of guests commented that the hotel needs refurbishment as the rooms are old and tired with dated decor, paint chipping off the walls and fixtures which are either old or broken. Guests also reported that the the hallways are dark, the carpets need replacing and that the gym is also dated and in need of new equipment.

Guests complained that an unpleasant musty smell could be detected in both the rooms and hallways, while others reported that their room smelled of old cigarette smoke.

Complaints have been made that the housekeeping service is unreliable. On arrival guests reported their rooms to be dirty, surfaces were found to be dusty and mould was discovered growing in the bathroom.
