The hotel’s star feature is undoubtedly its lovely courtyard pool, but guests will also find a fitness center for their workouts as well as meeting rooms for those doing business in the area. Motorists will be happy with the ample free parking on-site.
A basic continental breakfast, consisting of waffles, cereals, bread, muffins and fresh fruit, is served every morning. There is an incredible array of dining options in the area for the other two meals, including the very highly rated Asian Star restaurant.
Downtown Huntsville and the Sam Houston State University campus are less than three miles to the east.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Great choice of restaurants nearby
Since the hotel only offers a simple breakfast on-site, it seems some guests were afraid they would have to travel far to find a good restaurant for the other two meals. They were happy to report that their fears were baseless, and that there was an incredible choice of restaurants very nearby, covering almost every cuisine imaginable.
positive:
Very convenient location
Guests liked the location both because it was near to the interstate and because it was close to the center if Huntsville. The proximity to the interstate was useful when arriving and when heading off to more distant destinations, while guests with business in the town itself found its center and university very close to the hotel.
positive:
Decent on-site pool
While, surprisingly, not mentioned often, guests who did use the pool found it to be clean and in good shape, and the perfect spot to cool down on a blazing summer day.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Outdoor hallways
Although not mentioned often, it was reported that this was an older building with access corridors on the outside, and so exposed to the elements. Some didn't like this, particularly when the weather was not exactly playing along.
negative:
Odd smells throughout
While not a universal complaint, there were definitely too many guests complaining about odd smells for comfort. Some said that their room smelled of smoke and mold, but others couldn't quite put their finger on what it was. It was, however, certainly unpleasant.
negative:
Lack of electrical outlets
A couple of guests felt that the rooms did not have enough outlets. Considering that the modern guest has so many devices that need to be charged, they felt that there should definitely have been at least a couple more.
