Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location
The location is this hotel's main asset say guests. It's a pleasant ten minute walk into the city centre, within easy reach of the city's many attractions. It's close to the BSI Bus Station so it's easy to book tours and get buses from here. There are many eating options and bars nearby.
positive:
Good value
The hotel being in an excellent location, having basic but comfortable facilities and free parking, has a budget rate. In an expensive country like Iceland, many guests find this very good value for money, considering that breakfast is included.
positive:
Well heated
It has been noticed that the hotel
is very well heated. In fact, the bathroom is luxuriously warm, which is
a great advantage in a country which has a reputation for being very cold.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Staff absent
Although the staff has been described as honest and helpful, to the point of being better than tour guides, it is noticed that the staff is often not present when people arrive to Check-in. The entrance is at the back of the building and there is a number written to call for entry. For visitors arriving from abroad, this is a huge inconvenience. Also, guests have mentioned that their rooms were not cleaned for the duration of their stay.
negative:
Sulphuric smell
Oddly, the water has a very sulphuric smell here, which can be quite difficult to tolerate say guests.
negative:
Derelict looking building
From outside, the building looks quite run down and neglected, although it is a functioning hotel. Also, the staff does not pick up litter, which can be left lying around for days.
