Diamond Island Resort and Penguin Show Bicheno: the best way to photograph penguins is our deck at our special place in Tasmania. We have family beach shacks for 2 + 3 children or luxury ocean view Villas for 2, Crystal clear turquoise water and brilliant white sand finest around, great walks for all to enjoy. Golf 3 min. drive, Freciney national park a 10 min. drive; we have it all here, fishing, tennis, spas, pool, walk to an Island, nowhere else in the world can you do this. Others do not allow photos, but at our resort penguins prefer the well lit areas as this is where they play all night (every night of the year). Some nights there will be more penguins so better stay 2 nights and ask for a discount. Only here at Diamond Island are there so many penguins, living 3 days at a time on resort grounds. When breeding is on, usually August to January, they live here permanently for 6 to 8 weeks at a time; usually one makes a dash out to sea and brings back some food. Penguins like to be as close to people as they can get, walking through our 5 acres each night and some stay near the locals, wood piles, just about anywhere, enjoy Diamond Island Resort like no other; bar, restaurant, is open.
