Set in a spectacular location, with sweeping views over Swansea Bay, the Tides Reach Guest House offers homely accommodation with easy access to public transport. Rooms have a fresh and clean décor, and feature TV’s, alarm clocks, tea/coffee stations and luxury toiletries. In-room Wi-Fi is also available. There is on-site parking for smaller cars, while others can find free parking immediately outside the guest house. There’s a lovely little Zen-inspired garden out the back that is the perfect spot for contemplation. Breakfast is served daily in the bright dining room, and there is also a guest lounge available to relax in. Swansea city centre and railway station are 4.7 miles from Tides Reach, while Swansea University is just 2.7 miles. The immediate neighbourhood of Mumbles with its seaside promenade and local shops and cafes is also an attractive prospect.
This is the first thing many guests comment on. The guest house is in a dramatic setting that affords great views across Swansea Bay. Many of the rooms share this view, and guests lucky enough to be accommodated in them are certainly very impressed.
Though breakfasts at B&B's and guest houses often come in for a lot of praise, the breakfast at Tides Reach receives even more than usual. While guests are very happy with both the quantity and taste, they seem to be most impressed by the evident quality of the locally sourced ingredients used in the preparation.
Again and again guests make positive comments about the décor and furniture in the rooms. They seem to be quite happy with the modern, but classy, furniture and décor, and are certainly glad it is not frumpy.
Though there are some on-site parking spots, it seems they only suit very small cars, and are in any event difficult to secure. In effect guests must park outside. The neighbourhood parking is free, but several guests had trouble securing a spot close to the guest house.
While stated on the guest house's website, it could nevertheless be overlooked. The fact is that Tides Reach does not accept credit cards for settling the bill in person. Guests are advised to bring enough cash for this purpose.
Though not a major complaint, several guests mention that the bathrooms are a bit smaller than they would have liked. It's best not to try to swing a cat in them. You won't be able to, and will subsequently receive a visit by the RSPCA.
